Abrams, Gorelick, Friedman & Jacobson Announces Partner Promotion and Two New Associates

Abrams, Gorelick, Friedman & Jacobson, LLP is pleased to announce that Dennis Monaco has become a partner, and that Martha Nimmer and Jessica Rabkin have joined the firm as associates.

About Dennis Monaco

Dennis Monaco has 15 years of experience as a litigator, handling general liability matters such as lead poisoning, labor law, construction accidents, products liability, premises liability and motor vehicle accidents from inception through trial.

He has a record of more than 57 summary judgment decisions in the eight-year period from 2008 to 2016, with most granted in the Supreme Court, Bronx County. He has also tried 19 cases to verdict during the period 2010 to 2016.

Mr. Monaco takes a proactive approach to each matter, with considerable attention to pre-suit investigation, early litigation analysis and investigations as he strives to formulate the best dispute resolution strategies. He represents large insurance companies, national trucking companies, general contractors and subcontractors, municipalities, and small business owners.

He holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. He is licensed in New Jersey (2000) and New York (2001). He is also admitted to U.S. District Court, for the District of New Jersey (2000) and the U.S. District Court, for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (2010).

About Martha Nimmer

Martha Nimmer focuses her practice on the defense of complex insurance coverage disputes, including first party and third party property defense. She is experienced in the construction law field, where she applies New York’s Labor Law in matters involving owners, general contractors and subcontractors.

Ms. Nimmer served as a contributing writer for the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Blog, published by the New York State Bar Association, from November 2012 to October 2014. While in law school, she held internship positions with the New York City Campaign Finance Board, the publisher Reed Elsevier, and ASCAP, a professional membership organization of songwriters, composers and music publishers.

She holds a B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from The George Washington University and a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Ms. Nimmer is licensed in New York (2012) and has full professional proficiency in Spanish.

About Jessica Rabkin

Jessica Rabkin represents insurance companies and Lloyd’s Underwriters in complex insurance coverage disputes. She also defends insurance brokers, underwriters and other insurance professionals in declaratory judgment actions and contract disputes. Her practice includes the defense of clients in general liability, auto and premises liability cases.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rabkin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas F. Scully in the Superior Court of New Jersey. As a part of her clerkship, Jessica also served Court Certified Mediator for the Small Claims Division of the Special Civil Part.

Ms. Rabkin holds a B.S. from Rutgers University, a J.D. from Seton Hall University Law School and is fluent in Russian. She is licensed in New Jersey (2015) and New York (2016).
