James E. Kimmel is an associate at Abrams, Gorelick, Friedman & Jacobson, P.C. Since joining the firm in 2005, Mr. Kimmel’s practice has been focused on insurance defense litigation in cases involving products liability, premises liability, and motor vehicle liability, as well as insurance coverage litigation.

Mr. Kimmel is originally from Youngstown, Ohio and, prior to joining Abrams, Gorelick, Friedman & Jacobson, P.C., has been practicing insurance defense litigation since completing law school in 2002.

Mr. Kimmel is a graduate of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio (B.A. 1999). He obtained his law degree from New York Law School in New York City (J.D. 2002). He is admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

Mr. Kimmel has successfully won Summary Judgment on personal jurisdiction in multi-national products liability claims as well as premises and automotive liability cases.

He has extensive experience in issues concerning notice in the premises liability context and in questions regarding plaintiff’s satisfaction of the “serious injury” no-fault threshold in automotive and trucking cases.

Mr. Kimmel has appellate experience in premises liability claims and insurance coverage issues. He also serves as a local counsel liaison to a German heavy construction equipment manufacturer’s United States liability counsel.

Given the firm’s commitment and expertise in defending foreign and out-of-state manufacturers in products liability lawsuits, Mr. Kimmel works closely with firm member Glenn Jacobson as the firm’s lead associate in matters involving the existence of personal jurisdiction and other procedural defenses available to the firm’s manufacturing clients.
